Live Unit Surround expands coverage, reduces blind spots, and works with LVT mobile units to deliver flexible total site security.

Flexibility is an important concept in security: The ability to adapt as businesses scale, threats evolve, and circumstances change is a true test for any total site security system.

LVT (LiveView Technologies) built itself around this concept, recognizing that adaptability enables businesses to tailor security solutions that actually work for their needs. Starting with its flagship mobile security units, LVT has carefully constructed each advancement and new product offering around that core concept of flexibility, ensuring that businesses can enhance their security without completely overhauling their infrastructure.

LVT’s new Live Unit Surround, a system of building-mounted camera units designed to eliminate blind spots, perfectly aligns with that mission of creating flexible total site security.

Introducing Live Unit Surround

Live Unit Surround is a system of up to four building-mounted heads, each of which is equipped with one to three cameras.

The idea behind it is simple: Distributed deterrence and surveillance that helps eliminate the blind spots naturally created by buildings.

Live Unit Surround features:

  • Multiple heads with one to three cameras each
  • Configurable lights and integrated speakers for automated deterrence
  • Seamless integration with LVT’s VMS for a mosaic view of your cameras
  • Real-time monitoring from anywhere with an internet connection
  • Optional AI enhancements
  • Non-invasive installation
  • A central power source with the ability to distribute heads as far as 328 feet
  • Video storage of 30+ days
  • The ability to withstand hurricane-force winds up to 105 mph

Rather than replacing mobile security units, Live Unit Surround is designed to extend their effectiveness by addressing areas that mobile units may not be able to cover as efficiently.

How Live Unit Surround Enhances Mobile Security

LVT’s mobile security units, also known as LVT® Units, have a proven track record when it comes to crime prevention. Equipped with a towering camera mount and solar panels, an LVT Unit is hard to miss, deterring would-be criminals and increasing feelings of safety in customers and employees.

LVT Units are ideal for wide, open spaces that lack pre-existing infrastructure (such as parking lots). The addition of Live Unit Surround, however, offers four distinct advantages:

1. Layered Security

Layered security has long been a key principle in security. The more layered your security measures (such as additional camera coverage, access control, and sensors), the more difficult it is for criminals to commit crimes. Mobile security units offer a great first line of protection, but Surround offers a distinct, strong second layer to that coverage, providing video evidence from multiple angles.

2. Filling Building and Perimeter Coverage Gaps

LVT Units are able to cover a lot of ground, but the very buildings they protect can create significant blind spots, especially if those buildings have multifaceted shapes. Live Unit Surround covers those areas from vantage points specifically chosen to reduce building-caused blind spots and capture potential evidence if an incident occurs. Surround also extends your surveillance reach, as each head can be placed up to 328 feet away from the central unit.

3. Making Full-Site Coverage More Economical

Total site security tends to come with a hefty price tag. Live Unit Surround (with its multiple vantage points and components) offers a more economical way to expand coverage, giving you more viewing angles for less money.

4. Allowing Mobile Security Units to Focus on High-Risk Areas

The tools you use in security are only one part of the equation; placement is equally important, both in terms of angles for video recording and in terms of deterrence value.

While LVT Units offer several great features, a big part of what makes them so effective is their ability to deter bad actors before a situation escalates. Effective deterrence comes from would-be criminals seeing the security measure, understanding its purpose, and fearing the consequences. LVT Units have more reach (in their sightlines and deterrence abilities) when placed in visible central locations, such as parking lots or near entrances. Since they are easy to relocate, LVT Units can be moved if any problem areas arise.

Live Unit Surround is able to fill any gaps by providing coverage for areas that aren’t as high-risk or prominent.
