The third value at LiveView Technologies is to own it. At LVT this has a dual meaning—we take responsibility for our careers and projects, and all employees get equity in the company. In short, we act like owners because we are owners.
Part of owning it is being deliberate in how we invest our time and resources. We cut down on bureaucracy and waste. While the adage that time is money is true and applicable, we focus on more than just money. Good time and resource management contributes to more than just the bottom line. It shapes the culture of the workplace and the processes.
The second part of owning it is empowerment. Because we are owners, we are empowered to act and to empower those around us to be better and do better. This creates responsibility for each individual, but it also opens opportunities to achieve greater things.
Lastly, with owning it comes the opportunity to be candid and enthusiastic and to have fun while doing it. As owners, we are all invested in the company’s success, but that doesn’t mean we sacrifice everything, including our sanity and happiness. Ownership allows us to be creative, to try new things, and to have fun at our jobs.
