Here at LiveView Technologies we offer two types of security solutions—the Omni and the D3. Each has multiple benefits, but how can you decide what one best fits your needs?

What is the Omni?

The Omni is a powerful optical camera that integrates with the LVT Platform and app for live 24/7 monitoring and recorded footage. It gives you live surveillance without wires, internet, or electricity. This means it is completely mobile so you can adapt security to meet your needs. The Omni can be mounted on a mobile mount, a fixed pole, or even on a wall or a side of a building. And if your needs change, it can be easily relocated. All Omni units connect automatically to the LVT Platform, our remote cloud VMS. This is where you can access live video, recordings, and control the camera all from your smartphone or desktop.

The Omni is similar to traditional security, with the added benefits of high mobility and the LVT Platform. It is a single pan, zoom, tilt camera that makes the unit a very reactive security solution. It purely records and streams live footage. So if an incident happens, you will have recordings of it on the LVT Platform for evidentiary purposes, but that’s it. You will have no power to deter threats with the added features of the D3. You will only have the tools to react to the situation after it happens.

What is the D3?

The D3 is LVT’s flagship product. It is a customizable security solution with three cameras on a single unit and can include thermal, optical, or even fisheye cameras. Like the Omni, the D3 Unit is completely mobile and does not require wires, internet, or electricity. Furthermore, it can also be mounted almost anywhere and connects to the LVT Platform. However, unlike the Omni, the D3 has the added benefit of active deterrence. In addition to the powerful cameras, it also includes strobe and flood lights as well as a loudspeaker.

The D3 Unit does everything an Omni Unit does with the addition of deterrence. We believe that overt methods should be part of every security solution. Instead of watching a recording of a person trespassing, with the D3 you can receive active alerts and know the instant that person sets foot on your property. Furthermore, when they cross onto your property, the unit can and will respond to the incursion depending on your preferences. If you want a floodlight to turn on, the strobe lights to flash, and a prerecorded message to play that warns the trespasser off the property, the D3 Unit can do that. Because the D3 Unit is so obvious, it is an active security solution that helps prevent incidents from happening in the first place.

What one is best for you?

Both the Omni and the D3 have specific use cases where each is the better option. The Omni is great for situations where only surveillance is needed like remote mountains sites. The D3 is better where more people are present like retail parking lots, construction sites, and special events. If you are debating which is the best option for you, give us a call.
